Abram M Fridley

Abram M. Fridley, his wife Betsey, and their children Henry, Frank, David, and Mary. Abram Fridley was a Winnebago Indian agent, a lawyer, Minnesota territorial and state legislator, farmer, merchant, and a land agent of the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Company (SPPR) and its successor, the St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railway Company. He and his family were pioneers of the Fridley Township (Anoka County) area and were active in local politics and business, especially real estate and general merchandising. He came from New York to Long Prairie, Minnesota, in 1851. Major Fridley was a democrat in politics at a time when Abraham Lincoln was appearing on the national horizon, and when the newly formed republican party was rapidly rising to power in Minn esota. Fridley Township in Anoka County, Minnesota was named after him. It was formerly known as Manomin County.
